Central Park
The 843-acre-plot of Central Park makes for a perfect place for picnicking with friends and family. Green spaces are in plenty here, so reach early and select the one that serves you best. For a nature-filled picnic, look for a shaded place in either the Ramble or Sheeps Meadow. Both are among the designated spots for tranquillity, so you neednt worry about finding a secluded place. Prospect Park
Picnic in this 585-acre public park in Brooklyn which is also the largest park in the borough. Part of the Brooklyn-Queens Greenway, it was designed by the same gentlemen who designed the iconic Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. For families with kids in tow, the park is a great place for a fun-filled picnic with plenty of attractions to complement their day out. It has a zoo, boathouse, lake, and also has facilities for sports such as tennis, basketball, baseball and soccer.    

Brooklyn Bridge Park
Step inside this 85-acre park which is carved out of a chunk of the Brooklyn waterfront and makes for an ideal place for a day out. Here, you wont get a milieu of rustic fields and serene woodland as this four-year old park is somewhat modern in nature in terms of offerings. You can stroll on riverside esplanades, play basketball (two courts) and enjoy skating. Besides sports fields, your summer visit can be enriched by open air readings and outdoor movies.   

Flushing MeadowsCorona Park
A good place for picnicking is one that offers something for everyone in the family, particularly for kids. Thats why a visit to the citys second-biggest park is a great as your little ones wont feel bored one bit. Plus, it has plenty of green spaces to chill out and do the usual things one does while sitting out in the open for a picnic. Things you can expect here include a zoo, a skate park, a boating lake, playing fields and a barbecue area.  

Inwood Hill Park
This is one of the best outdoor spaces in NYC for a picnic. It also exhibits old world charm and has evidence of its prehistoric roots. Visitors in the mood for a picnic can also enjoy a hiking trail and the Hudson River Bike Trail.
